From May to June, establishing mutual visits to both cities for a bridgehead for local companies to enter the U.S.

Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo visited the Montgomery County Administrative Office in the United States on the 24th (local time), the second day of his business trip, to promote exchange and cooperation in the bio field.

Daejeon City and the economic delegation met with Montgomery County Mayor Mark Elrich (Executive) to request economic cooperation for Daejeon bio companies to enter the U.S. and introduced Bioneer (CEO Park Han-oh) and NDD (CEO Ahn Se-young) who accompanied them.

Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo stated, “Montgomery County is a sister city and a member of the city alliance that has promised practical exchanges, and we will strive to provide continuous support for bio venture companies in the Daejeon area to advance into the United States in the future. We hope that through this event, the two cities will create ways to strengthen exchange and cooperation.”

Mayor Mark Elrich responded that he is attracted to the cutting-edge technology of Daejeon companies and that the two cities will cooperate in the future.

Afterward, Mayor Lee Jang-woo visited the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Food and Drug Administration (FDA), listened to explanations about U.S. health agencies, and had a question-and-answer session with companies on food and drug exports.

Bioneer and NDD, who accompanied the Montgomery County itinerary also shared, “It was a meaningful event for the growth of Daejeon bio companies,” suggesting the necessity of continued cooperate.
