During President Yoon's visit to the agricultural site in Imcheon-myeon, Buyeo County, on the 7th, Mayor Park conveyed the significance and the need for support in this endeavor.
Prior to the meeting, Mayor Park, along with the representative delegation from Buyeo County's agricultural sector, visited Namangan Province from the 1st to the 6th of the month. During their visit, they signed a memorandum of understanding, solidifying an official agreement for the establishment of a specialized zone based on Buyeo County's advanced agricultural technologies.
Mayor Park, in a previous meeting with Mayor Begzod of Chust City, the designated site for the proposed specialized zone, emphasized the necessity of "national-level guarantees" to ensure the protection and sustainability of participation from domestic private enterprises in the project.
"Buyeo County is an agriculture-centered city, with 37% of its population engaged in farming activities," Mayor Park explained to President Yoon. He further expressed concerns about the current situation, where 76% of the farming population is over the age of 60, putting the region at risk of rural depopulation. Mayor Park highlighted the opportunity to overcome this crisis by utilizing the accumulated expertise in facility horticulture and leading the way in fostering smart farming practices.
"We have already established the first-ever smart horticulture complex in the country in 2020, occupying 46% of the entire Chungcheongnam-do province", Mayor Park proudly stated. He further emphasized that through their technological capabilities, they have become the leading producers in the nation for seven different crops, including tomatoes, watermelons, and shiitake mushrooms.
Concluding the discussion, Mayor Park shared the ambitious plan to develop a 3-million-square-meter agricultural specialization zone in Uzbekistan, facilitated by the transfer of Buyeo County's cutting-edge smart farming technologies. He urged the central government to provide special attention and support to ensure the successful implementation of this agricultural initiative.
As the K-Buyeo Goodtrae Specialization Zone project gains momentum, Mayor Park's appeal for central government support signals a promising partnership between Buyeo County and Namangan Province, aiming to revolutionize agricultural practices and foster international collaboration in Uzbekistan's agricultural sector.
