The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will promote the nation's globally popular content in North America.

The ministry on Sept. 8 announced that it will hold the K-Content Expo this month in Mexico and the U.S.

Launched in 2016, this content exhibition supports the development of export channels for content-related companies and promotes Hallyu (Korean Wave) worldwide.

The expo in Mexico is scheduled from Sept. 11-24 at the hotel Hilton Mexico City Reforma, while that in the U.S. is from Sept. 18-20 at the Biltmore Los Angeles.

For buyers from countries like Mexico, Peru, Argentina, the U.S. and Canada, 17 Korean content companies to attend the events will promote Korean culture through briefings on attracting investment, individual consultations on exports, exchange meetings between companies, and workshops involving visits to content companies in the U.S. and Mexico.

Korean participants will visit TelevisaUnivision and TV Azteca in Mexico and Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. in the U.S. to check out the content industries there and seek business cooperation between companies of the two countries.

The ministry will also open overseas business centers this year in Mexico and the U.S.

These venues will support marketing to advance Korean content companies abroad, connect projects and build infrastructure facilities.

The ministry said the government will allocate next year's budget to expand the number of such centers to 25 and provide more support for content exports.

In November, the expo will be held in Belgium and the United Arab Emirates.
