The festival opened on October 26 at CGV Daejeon, where the organizing committee held an opening ceremony at 5 PM, followed by the closing ceremony the next evening at 7:30 PM.
The festival’s final film, "Samgyeopsal," selected for the non-competitive section, featured Vietnamese students and was followed by a discussion with the audience. The closing ceremony included a report by Executive Chairman Baek Gi-won, reflections on the festival, an awards ceremony, and the official closing declaration.
The ceremony was hosted by Lee Chae-yu, the festival’s ambassador. In his report, Baek noted, "The Daejeon International One-Day Film Festival took its first steps during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic in 2022. Although it has been a short journey, we have worked hard to uncover and promote the potential of independent films in Korea and globally." He expressed gratitude to everyone involved, stating that the festival has brought the community closer together.
Organizing Committee Chairman Kim Sung-yong also expressed his appreciation, saying, "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the filmmakers for their outstanding works and to our sponsors for their unwavering support. I am grateful to the citizens who have worked alongside us to build this festival over the past three years, and to the staff and executives who have tirelessly prepared for it."
Park Dong-il, chairman of the Thursday Media Club, praised the festival in his closing remarks, emphasizing its role as a gateway for independent filmmakers amidst a landscape dominated by commercial cinema and large multiplexes.
The 3rd Daejeon International One-Day Film Festival showcased over 400 domestic and international short films across four sections.
The Best Short Film award went to "Mosquitoes Don’t Fly" (Lee Dong-hyun), while the Outstanding Short Film awards were presented to "HRD" (Jeong Chi-hun), "Unboxing" (Nam Ki-woong), and "How to Swim with Dolphins" (Seo Yun-soo). The Pet Film award was given to "Wait!" (Kim Dong-kyu), which offers a dog's perspective on the world.
In the Animation section, "The Silent Route" (Merve Cirisoglu) from the UK, which depicts the miracle of humanity amidst war, received the award.
The Jury Special Award was given to young filmmaker Jeong Ok (Yoo Ji-min). The Outstanding Youth Film Award went to "Dad's Marijuana" (Lee Sang-bi), while "Sound of the Heart" (Nam Chi-hyun), "Love FM 98.0 MHz" (Lee Ha-yeon), and "No Very Good" (Baek So-yul) received additional honors.
Held on October 26-27, the festival not only featured film screenings but also engaged the public through initiatives like "Global Supporters," a citizen jury, workshops involving Daejeon citizens and Vietnamese students, cultural volunteer efforts in Da Nang, and auditions for "Shin Berilla," all attracting significant community interest.
The post-screening discussions across sections indicated high engagement from attendees, reflecting a strong interest in short films. Notably, the closing film "Samgyeopsal," featuring both Vietnamese students and Daejeon citizens, was conducted in Vietnamese and Korean, sparking significant enthusiasm among the local Vietnamese community and showcasing its potential for a world premie
