Established in December 2007, the Buyeo Briquette Bank has provided 941,252 briquettes to 2,265 households in need, including low-income families, elderly individuals living alone, and those in the second-lowest income bracket, across 16 towns and villages in Buyeo County by March 2024. The organization aims to share warmth and offer support to neighbors facing hardship during the winter months.
Local civic groups under the Buyeo County government have participated annually by donating briquettes during the reopening ceremony. This year, three groups contributed briquettes worth 1.8 million won, highlighting the community's commitment to this initiative. Donations can continue through the supporting account until March of next year.
Mayor Park Jung-hyun remarked, "In this time of climate crisis and worsening economic conditions, we are fostering a warm Buyeo together through the spirit of sharing from our Briquette Angels and Donor Angels." He expressed gratitude to the Buyeo Briquette Bank officials and supporters for their contributions.
Director Ko Seong-rae stated, "I would like to thank everyone who has participated in the donations. We will continue to lead efforts in serving our neighbors and community to the best of our abilities."
