On September 12th, Yuseong-gu Office (Mayor Jeong Yong-rae) and Wingwing Co., Ltd. held a Hwangto-gil Healing Walk and Footbath Health Experience Event at Yuseong-gu Oncheon-dong Footbath and the nearby Hwangto Walking Trail. This event, which was hosted by Walkinto Korea, a global PR media outlet, targeting foreigners from various countries including Spain, the Philippines, Egypt, Uganda, Botswana, Indonesia, and Pakistan. The project was implemented as part of the 'Yuseong Hot Springs District Tourism Revitalization' project of the 8th elected government of Yuseong-gu, which aims to attract foreign tourists to the 'Yuseong Hot Springs District' and revitalize the 'Yuseong Hot Springs District' with a young lifestyle.
Foreigners gathered at Oncheon-dong enjoyed walking barefoot along the Hwangtong trail near the footbath with members of the Daejeon branch of the National Barefoot Walking Movement Headquarters and experiencing hot spring footbaths at the footbath.
Osama (male, 25) from Alexandria, Egypt shared the enjoyment, “It’s amazing that there is an open-air footbath like this in the city center for citizens to enjoy,” and said he wanted to share with his friends about it.
Hiba Fatima (female, 22) from Islamabad, Pakistan said, “This is my first time walking barefoot and taking a hot spring footbath. It’s the first time I knew there was a place like this in Korea, and feels like I’m getting healthier."
Foreigners who participated in this event will each be active influencers in their own communities and promote Yuseong Hot Springs to the world by posting hashtags such as #yuseong and #yuseonghotspring on SNS.
