This agreement's purpose is to get the confirmation of using the LH public housing as accommodation for athletes from 150 countries participating in the event during August 2027.
Through the agreement, LH will provide approximately 2,300 public rental housing units (capable of accommodating approximately 10,000 people) in Sejong Special Self-Governing City, scheduled to be supplied in 2027, as lodging for athletes, and the Organizing Committee will support consultations with related organizations for smooth project implementation.
As both organizations promise to cooperate in utilizing the public rental housing being built in Sejong as an athletes' village, the construction of an athlete's village that will house over 10,000 athletes from over 150 countries around the world who will participate in the Games is expected to begin in earnest.
Organizing Committee Chairman Kang Chang-hee stated his express, “LH’s plan is expected to create and utilize the athletes’ village will lay the foundation for the successful hosting of the event. This plays a significant role in raising the status of national sports capabilities”, adding “As we promote the creation of the athletes’ village with LH, we will actively collaborate and make more efforts”.
LH President Lee Han-joon also shared, “This is a meaningful agreement that we will be able to contribute to a national event by utilizing the assets and capabilities that LH possesses” he added, “We will actively collaborate with the organizing committee to successfully host the event. We will also plan to continue providing diverse support to ensure the successful hosting of various national events in the future.”
