On the 10th, Daejeon City held a welcoming event at the Onoma Hotel D-Unicorn Lounge for a delegation from the sister city Montgomery County, USA, who visited Daejeon to strengthen exchanges of economic and scientific cooperation.
During the event, Daejeon City and Montgomery County signed a memorandum of understanding to promote economic exchange, including mutual support when entering the corporate market and introducing the current status of the bio-industry in both cities.
Daejeon City and Montgomery County established a sister city partnership in 2017 and have been conducting ongoing exchanges such as participation in the Daejeon APCS in 2017, the Daejeon United Local Government (UCLG) General Assembly in 2022, and the Daejeon World Innovation Cities Forum in 2023.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo stated, “I hope that this visit by the Montgomery County delegation will not only expand exchanges in the bio sector but also serve as a bridgehead for Daejeon bio companies to advance into the United States”, he added, “The Daejeon economic delegation will visit Seattle and Montgomery County in June and I am looking forward to it.”
Mayor Mark Elrich also expressed his statement, “I am pleased to have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen exchanges with Daejeon, a city centered on science and technology”, He emphasized, “This visit will serve as an opportunity to further expand practical cooperation between the two cities on the human exchanges and high-tech industries fields”.
