On December 15th 2023, The Korea Dance Culture and Arts Promotion Association held the '2023 Korean Dance Culture and Arts Competition with Masters' at Nuri Hall, Daejeon Artist's House.
This performance by the Korean Dance Culture and Arts Promotion Association served as an opportunity to bring our traditional dance closer to many people by revitalizing and expanding the base of traditional dance and showing high-quality dance performances by masters to the citizens of Daejeon.
High-quality performances such as Taepyeongmu, Hallyangmu, Jinju Gyobang Gutgeori Dance, Salpuri Dance, Pansori, Sajanoreum, and Seohan Uryu Beokkuchum are genres that we do not normally witness. moreover, being able to see the dances of masters up close to the stage is a great way to enjoy our traditional dance. This can be seen as a great help in deeply understanding our Korean culture.
Hong Myeong-won, Chairman of the Korea Dance Culture and Arts Promotion Association expressed his aspiration, “Understanding our traditional dance culture will become a foundation for expansion, not only in the region but also around the world, and it will raise the happiness index in your hearts by reflecting on the roots of traditional dance during difficult and difficult times. I hope the performances will be a great opportunity for the audience".
For this performance, it was great to be able to see the performances of great artists because the stage and audience are very close to each other at the Daejeon artist's house, Nuri Hall. This performance, in which the audience and performers came together as one, was a moving stage that could not be seen anywhere else.
In particular, the overall program was so good that the audience could watch the performance comfortably.
The event broke the preconceived notion that when it comes to our traditional dance, only people related to traditional dance are seen rather than the general public. The performance was enough to make us feel that our traditional dance was elegant and cool.
This performance, which received positive reviews from many people, was the first performance by masters who started with the goal of making Daejeon - the central city of Korea, into a mecca of traditional dance. The performance of the leading artists ended successfully with the support and encouragement of many people.
