Since its establishment in 1981, the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Associations (World-OKTA) has played a pivotal role in promoting economic development and export opportunities for South Korea. As the largest Korean overseas economic network, comprising 7,000 overseas Korean CEOs in 143 branches across 68 countries, along with 21,000 next-generation entrepreneurs, World-OKTA stands as a powerful force among the 7.5 million overseas Koreans.
Purpose and Vision
At the heart of World-OKTA's mission is its commitment to contribute to the economic growth and trade promotion of the mother country while facilitating its entry into overseas markets. The organization strives to foster mutual friendship among its members, strengthen global networks, and facilitate the exchange of valuable information. Ultimately, World-OKTA envisions a global Korean economic community that promotes the common prosperity of the nation.
A Message from the Chairman
To the esteemed members of World-OKTA, the Chairman's message reflects the organization's pride in its rich history and growth. Since its humble beginnings with 101 members in 16 countries, World-OKTA has thrived for over four decades, expanding its reach to become the largest economic association of overseas Koreans.
The organization remains dedicated to not only bolstering Korea's economic territory on the global stage but also serving as a steadfast partner for the entry of small and medium-sized Korean businesses into the international market. Moreover, World-OKTA takes pride in contributing to the global image of South Korea while fostering a sense of Korean identity among the next generation and nurturing future economic leaders.
A Vision for the Future
With an eye toward the future, the 21st executive team of World-OKTA is determined to advance the association's goals of reconciliation through communication and growth through innovation. Recognizing the valuable expertise of elder members and the next generation, the newly established World-OKTA Future Development Committee aims to envision the association's path for the next 42 years.
To promote effective communication and harmony among its members, World-OKTA plans to implement an "employee charge system by continent" at its headquarters. Additionally, the association aims to support exports by connecting domestic companies with overseas members through various projects, including the World-OKTA Export Friendship Support Project, Overseas Branching Project, Export Voucher Project, Export Starter Enterprise Support Project, and GCC Marketing Project. Embracing the digital era, World-OKTA plans to create its own 'online business platform' to achieve innovation and growth.
Nurturing Future Leaders
Investing in the next generation is a priority for World-OKTA. For over two decades, the association has conducted the 'Next Generation Trade School', nurturing and empowering future overseas talents and entrepreneurs. With the launch of the 'Global Marketer School' this year, World-OKTA is poised to provide professional business education, focusing on practical startup support, global job creation, and employment opportunities.
Empowering Branches for National Growth
World-OKTA recognizes the crucial role that its branches play in fostering economic growth within Korea. The association pledges to support and revitalize its branches, ensuring they remain active and dynamic contributors to the nation's economic prosperity.
In closing, Chairman's message calls for collective action, active participation, and cooperation from the World-OKTA family as they embark on the journey of the next 42 years. By harmonizing through communication and embracing innovation, World-OKTA is poised to continue its vital role as a global force for economic growth and prosperity, propelling Korea forward on the world stage.
