On June 26th, a delegation led by the founder of Neverland Christian School in the Philippines visited Mokwon University to establish a mutual collaboration agreement.
Neverland Christian School, a prestigious institution in the emerging Porak region of the Philippines, started with four students in 2012 and now has over 470 students enrolled from this summer semester.
The signing ceremony was attended by key figures such as Reverend Jo Yu-won (the founder and director of Neverland Christian School), Reverend Bae Mal-soon, Reverend Kim Bong-gu (Chairman of Love Asia Corporation and Director of Daejeon Immigrant Comprehensive Welfare Center), and Pastor Song Yang-hyun of KMC News.
Rev. Jo Yu-won expressed his delight, stating, "Through connections with Korean universities, we aim to open up study abroad opportunities for Filipino students, and Mokwon University has provided us with a great starting point. We hope that Mokwon University students will visit the Philippines to gain educational experiences and receive necessary education."
Earlier, on May 22nd, Mokwon University also signed a cooperation agreement for mutual exchange with Naga Hope Christian School and the Bicol Annual Conference United Methodist Church in the Philippines.
Naga Hope Christian School, established in 1958 by the United Evangelical Church in the Philippines, is a prominent institution in the Naga region, offering education from kindergarten to high school.
Representatives from Naga Hope Christian School and the Bicol Annual Conference, including Rev. Jang Dong-in, who led the MOU, Principal Lei S. Gueriba, Methodist Minister Nonelio P. Talisic, and Director Oscar T. Ong, attended the ceremony.
Principal Gueriba expressed his pleasure, saying, "I am delighted to initiate a cooperative relationship with prestigious Christian universities in Korea. I hope to develop cooperation in various fields such as education, culture, and administration."
Mokwon University is revitalizing its study abroad environment and policies through globalization and diversification, aiming to create a campus suitable for a wide range of students from different cultural backgrounds.
Over the past semester, Mokwon University has been expanding its exchange and cooperation with schools from various countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Mongolia, and Thailand.
President Lee Hee-hak expressed his hope for increased interaction with Filipino schools, stating, "While Mokwon University already has a significant number of international students, I hope for more active exchange with schools in the Philippines. I look forward to a vibrant mutual collaboration, leveraging the advantages of English-speaking countries and the proximity between our regions, and I hope that this will be an opportunity for mutual growth through diverse cooperation."
