Hampyeong Butterfly Festival is held around Hampyeong Expo Park, Eco Marsh, and Hwayang Neighborhood Park between April and May every year since the first festival on May 1, 1999.
The festival provides the exhibition, culture and experience vents on flowers, butterflies and insects and a variety of experience programs on butterflies and insects. The exhibition and market for good specialties as well as eco-friendly farm produces, livestock and marine products are also opened.
Hampyeong does not have industrial or tourism resources. Furthermore, specialties or food are not sufficiently produced in Hampyeong. Thus, the festival was planned to activate the local economy and increase the income of residents by selling the agricultural specialties produced in eco-friendly areas. A number of tourists has been visiting Hampyeong Butterfly Festival, the representative local festival, every year.
