The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Culture and Information Service will hold the '2019 UNESCO Cultural Heritage Last Visit' at Hapcheon Haeinsa(Haein Temple), Yangsan Tongdosa(Tongdo Temple), Gyeongnam, in Korea.
Tongdosa(통도사) is one of the seven temples of 'Sansa (Buddhist Mountain Monasteries in Korea) ' which was registered as Korea's 13th World Heritage Site last year. Haeinsa (해인사) is home to Jangkyung Panjeon, a World Heritage site, and Daejanggyeongpan, a documentary heritage.
During this visit, 30 foreigners from Korea will face Korea's religious culture through the temple experience (temple stay) where they experience monks' daily life and find the relaxation of their mind. Besides, they will have an opportunity to check the excellence and artistry of Korean culture, which combines nature and science, by visiting Haeinsa where the world cultural heritage, Tripitaka Koreana (Palman Daejanggyeongpan), and Jangyeongpanjeon, a building that has been preserved for 500 years exist.
On 9th November, they will experience the special culture of a Korean monastery where has maintained their functions of religious belief and practicing asceticism for more than 1,000 years. They will have a special temple lunch, learn how to bow, fly lotus flower lanterns, and join a meditation program at Tongdosa. On the second day, they will spend time to understand the Tripitaka Koreana(Palman Daejanggyeong)'s production motives and the whole process, and preservation methods in the Haeinsa Daejanggyeong Park.
'2019 Exploring the UNESCO World Heritages in Korea' organized by the Korean Culture and Information Service joined by 283 foreigners from 46 countries.
Starting with exploring Gyeongju area including Gyeongju Historic Sites joined by 30 diplomatic corps in Korea last April, Taekkyeon(a traditional Korean martial art) experience in May, visiting Baekje historical site in June, visiting Suwon Hwaseong and having Namdangnori experience in September and October, and In November, the expedition to Changdeokgung Palace and Kimjang experience program followed.
