The '2022 PREVIEW' exhibition, held in celebration of Artist Residency TEMI's 9th anniversary from March 31 to April 17, has recently been showcasing many spectacular artworks by six talented resident artists, and one of them is artist Kim Heesoo Agnes.
Kim HeeSoo Agnes explores the fragments of time through visual media, with a focus on time, light, conditions of being, etc. that exist beyond the incomplete and structuralized social language but are not easily conceptualized.
The artist says that the vitality of her works is granted between things that exist in reality and the quest for truth. She thinks that, although social goals are maintained through numerous generations, they are first expressed by an individual, and that the reason for our existence is not to materialize a world that is deemed ideal but to challenge ideals and norms that have already been set.
'Searching for Green Ray' is a work on green ray, an optical phenomenon generated by the last ray reflected right after sunset or right before sunrise. It is very rarely observed even if various conditions, including the environment, weather, and the observer’s location, are fulfilled, and we cannot predict where and when it will take place. The first of the double-channel videos shows the time-lapse from the departure in search of green-ray to the wait for green-ray in numerous different places. The second video describes the observer documenting the movements of plants, animals, individuals, and crowds encountered in the journey in pursuit of green-ray.
